Valencia Food Tour

Steeped in history and tradition, the Central Food Market in Valencia is one of the best in Europe. Standing majestically in the el Carmen area, the multi vaulted market hall, with its stained glass windows and intricate roof work, is the perfect setting for the locally caught fish and seafood, artisan cheese, cured hams, seasonal fruit and vegetables, Valencia rice, olive oils and much more.

As a cook and recipe writer living in Valencia, I want to share this market experience with you and have created a food walk, for no more than eight people at a time, to visit some of my favourite vendors and food stalls. Starting at 9.30am, we will meet at the Orxatería inside the market hall, to sip a chilled glass of horchata and have a quick chat about the importance of chufa in this part of Spain. We’ll begin our food walk from there, with ample time to stop and buy whatever takes your fancy, enjoying tastings as we go and finishing with a chilled glass of Vermút. You’ll also receive a goody bag to take home filled with local jamón, Valencia rice and a small bottle of award winning olive oil.

The cost for the food tour is €75 per person and includes all nibbles, sips and tastings. The experience will begin at 9.30am and finish at 1approximately 11.30am. Should you wish to continue your food experience, we can walk away from the market and the more trodden tourist trail, and enjoy a traditional Valencia almuerzo nearby. Please let me know when booking if this is of interest.
